On Jan 18, 2003 over 500 homes were destroyed in a firestorm in Canberra, Australia.
My parent’s homes was one of them. They were Suddenly Homeless. It took me years to comprehend how narrowly escaping the ‘fire tornado’ with them, had dramatically affected my own sense of home and safety in the world as well.
The experience brought a whole new meaning to my understanding of ‘home’ and what it means to rebuild your life and home after trauma and adversity.
It inspired me to create a website specifically dedicated to those rebuilding their homes and lives after unexpected loss.
I feel privileged and grateful that the idea for ‘Suddenly Homeless: The Journey Home Project’ arose from the ashes.
